Acetaminophen
Indications/Uses
Reduces fever. Relieves mild to moderate pains associated w/ cold & flu, headache, teething, immunizations.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn ≥2 yr 10-15 mg/kg/dose every 4 hr. Max: 4 doses in 24 hr. Max duration of continued use w/o medical advice: 3 days.
Special Precautions
Underweight or malnourished; regular alcohol consumption; liver or kidney impairment. Avoid or reduce dose in case of severe infection. Concomitant use w/ warfarin or other blood-thinners. Do not use if concomitantly taking any other prescription or non-prescription medicines containing paracetamol. Pregnancy. Not recommended for childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Rare: Thrombocytopenia; anaphylaxis; cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions including skin rashes, angioedema & SJS; bronchospasm in patients sensitive to aspirin & other NSAIDs; hepatic dysfunction.
